A practice of processes and methods
The association aims to help socially vulnerable
children and young people whose life situation is characterised by
structural disadvantage or poverty through support
support at individual, group or structural level in order to increase their
opportunities, to increase their resilience and to combat
mechanisms of exclusion or disadvantage.
Habbekrats offers children and young people something precious and valuable: time and space.
Therefore, at the start of 2021, Habbekrats will have
38,000 m2 of youth space that is centrally located, transparent and maximally easily accessible.
Habbekrats has 19 youth centres, most of them in Flanders and now also in Brussels. They give children/young people the time and space for leisure activities, various projects and also the welfare of the child is at stake.
Besides the youth houses, there is also an adventure house used for the camps. The adventure house is located in the Ardennes. Every weekend and during the school holidays, we organise various themed camps, each highlighting a social theme.
Habbekrats has developed and documented an ‘exemplary good practice’ that is based on its specific methodology, that is in response to the community’s recognised need to support vulnerable children and young people, who are victims of structural deprivation and exclusion.
The Habbekrat methodology is recognised as such by the government. Habbekrats has at least one full-fledged operation that applies and further develops and supports the implementation of this methodology in other cities and municipalities and by other organisations.
