Maša is a big youth work enthusiast and humanitarian at heart who has been part of the SHL Bosnia as a Project Coordinator of the Academy for Young Leaders in Civil Society. While managing the program and welcoming already 5 generations of young people who have already graduated from the Academy, Maša is a role model to many. Being part of the Schüler Helfen Leben Foundation allowed Maša to contribute to the growth and impact on the youth in her country and create space for young people to see firsthand the authentic values of a free society.
Originally from Ljubuški, a picturesque, cozy town nestled in the southwest of Bosnia. Maša started her educational journey there, where she completed both elementary and high school. Later on, Maša relocated for university studies in Sarajevo, ultimately earning a degree in political science, international relations, and diplomacy. For nearly a decade, she worked in Media, but after ten years, she felt it was time for a new direction. She has been involved in non-governmental institutions and citizen associations since 2010. This led her to the youth sector, where she drew upon her previous experience running a school for critical thinking in Mostar. Maša believes it is crucial to empower younger generations to live freely and have a positive impact on society.
On a personal note, Maša is a mother of two, and besides the joys of family, her passions are travel and pilates. For Maša, it is profoundly rewarding to witness young individuals who are eager to learn and explore new possibilities, which is what the SHL Academy gives them. The drive that young people possess to enact change, contribute to their communities, and pursue personal development is what fuels her passion for youth work and that of many others in the SHL office.
