Youth Participation in Rural and Suburban Areas

Germany, Erding, April 21 - April 24, 2026
European level activity

This study visit aims to showcase innovative approaches and concrete examples of how young people can be actively involved in decision-making processes.

The participation of young people in social processes is a crucial foundation for the future viability of our communities. Rural and suburban areas in particular, often present unique challenges in promoting the participation and co-determination of young people.

This study visit aims to showcase innovative approaches and concrete examples of how young people can be actively involved in decision-making processes. We will examine both the specific characteristics of the region and the opportunities that arise from greater integration of young people into political and social structures.

This study visit is geared towards youth workers as well as representatives from public administration and civil society. We want to discuss practical solutions and demonstrate how greater participation can be achieved.

We will meet in the municipality of Erding (close to Munich and close to Munich airport). On 22 and 23 April, we will travel by bus to various other locations in Bavaria and learn about projects and institutions related to youth participation.

Please notice: unfortunately the online application form is in German (because it’s a German websystem). But it is very short and should be understandable also for non-German speakers. If there are any questions just contact siebel@jfemail.de
